I've been on Effexor since 1998 or 9, and on Risperidone since around 2005 with never any problems. Today I got a call from my psychiatrist saying that my pharmacy had faxed him, saying these two meds should not be prescribed together due to an increased risk of heart rhythm abnormalities. He wanted to confirm how long I'd been on them, and if I'd had any heart problems. I assured him I hadn't and my last ECG was in Nov. and it was normal then.
I figure this has got to be new info on the meds interacting that the pharmacy sent him, since this particular pharmacy has been filling my scripts for the last 6 months and hasn't said anything to me. Has anyone else heard that the combo might be contraindicated.
I must admit my first reaction was fear, that I might have to come off one of them, since I get bad withdrawals if I miss even one dose.
