I need help. About a month ago I couldn't stand up straight. I was rigid and couldn't move very well. It was as if gravity was bearing down on half my body. Furthermore, I've noticed over the weeks that my hands have been a bit shaky. Today they are shakier than normal followed by my legs feeling as if I should move them. They won't relax even when flat footed. It's discomforting.

Is this just akathasia again? Could Lithium or Lamictal cause it? I've been on Geodon for nearly a year and it hasn't triggered akathasia. It strikes me as odd that a mood stabilizer would cause it... The rigidity sounds like the beginning stages of Parkinson's disease. I told my psychiatrist and he had nothing to say. I see him on the 31st so Ill get a definitve answer then. If it gets worse I have Cogentin here from back in the day when I was on Risperdal. I had to use it when I was briefly put on Prozac.

What does this sound like?

it sounds like a dystonic reaction but also akathesia.
i got dystonia on haldol extremely bad. i was very rigid and i had shakiness going on. my hands curled into a ball and i was bent over from the waist up. it was like the top half of my body was just bent. but then my toes curled too.

ive had akathesia on atypical meds more than typicals. its definitely uncomfortable. well both are. the rigidity and akathesia stopped when i stopped my meds but i eventually had to go back on them.
