i am working on a project to get to know my alters. so far there are 6 that regularly reveal themselves. my project involved them telling their story, why they split off and what their role is. i have wanted to die since i was 5 and then my alter, maggie, came along when i was 16 and she was actively suicidal till i was in my mid 40's. she was always plotting and planning ways to die and self harming, but then there was another part of me that always foiled these plans. somebody worked really hard to keep us alive all these years. The thing is, none of the parts that have revealed themselves have claimed this role and it doesnt feel like any of them are the ones either. So I am wondering if i have an alter whose role it was to keep us alive or was it just me? Does anybody else have an alter who fulfilled this role? Am I am making sense?
