Well, your girlfriend is very lucky to have you. You sound very kind and supportive. Really the best help you can give her is that support you are giving but ultimately she needs psychotherapy.

As for your questions... No the host will not disappear completely though an alter may take over for a time. Will an alter break up with you? Possibly if she does not trust you, has never met you... but the host will come back at some point and all will be ok again, you might find then that the alters start to accept you. I am talking in general terms but please be advised that everyone's experience is different.
