Doctors really can't do much for personality disorders because doctors mostly work with medicines, and personality disorder treatment is more involved in learning new skills and changing the way you think about things. Doctors might not diagnose something that they aren't familiar with or prepared to treat. Could you try talking to a counselor or therapist?

Oh, and if you told them APD, that often stands for antisocial personality disorder, which you don't sound like you have - it's very different. Avoidant PD is AvPD. I'm not sure if you referred to it by initials or not. If you want help, you should be able to get help, and it is a significant problem if you can't enjoy being around people because of fear of rejection. It also can be treated if you are ready to put in enough effort and face your fears. I hope that you can find a professional who is able to support you in that.
