In order to drive any commercial vehicle you must have a Medical Certification card. Some things that can keep you from getting one are insulin controlled diabetes, Uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease that makes it likely you could suffer a MI( heart attack) at any time and MI that would effect your judgement.
Up to last year I was diagnosed with MDD and still was able to keep my Medical card. Last year, after being hospitalized I had to renew it, the doctor that did it knows of my DX of BP1 and said as long as I had not had a manic episode in the last 6 months I was ok. My diagnosis of BP1 is noted right on the long form of my medical certification.
Medical certification is required every two years unless there is a reason to need it yearly. Usually blood pressure problems. And that, not the MI dx is the reason I must renew mine every year.
