Hey
I daydream excessively too, been doing it since childhood and i'm 21 now.
I must say the bus thing made me smile I do that too, I even missed my stop once just because I wanted to continue my fantasy and didn't want to get off!

. Music too definitely makes me daydream more. However, I'm at university currently and my daydreaming doesn't interfere with my work and I can mostly function fine other than needing my space sometimes to 'daydream'
I definitely feel Maladaptive daydreaming is a genuine issue even though it's not officially recognized I was on a forum once, Unfortunately I've since forgotten the URL, but there's so many people who've experience the same thing with similar symptoms.
I wouldn't dig to deep into an official diagnoses though I find labels can more often cause more problems than they solve. However as it has caused a lot of issues for you I would probably recommend seeking some professional help, to aid you managing your daydreaming so you can function in daily life and it isn't a hindrance.
