I'm sorry for what you experienced. I've been traumatized by a couple of Ts too. In fact I recently made a
thread specifically based on my own experience of going to a T in solo practice who abused me.
I think the answer is simple. People go back for therapy because they are taught that this is the way to solve their problems. That it works. Therefore when it doesn't, people come to believe they chose the wrong therapist or the wrong modality. In my case I decided it was the wrong therapist. Some people who have been abused or traumatized by quite a few of them or have not gotten better despite years of therapy, might believe the whole thing is a sham. But there are those who got better from therapy. It's hard for me to say if it's good or bad, overall. But I just want people to be cautious.
