So, I got switched to Klonopin .5mg 2x daily to manage general anxiety symptoms. I like it a lot! It doesn't make me feel like I'm on a medication, it's totally smooth. I simply go from anxious to not anxious, and that's it. Sometimes it will make me drowsy but it's not as bad as Xanax.

My question is, am I legally allowed to continue taking the Xanax that I have left over as needed for when I have panic attacks? Because I still do need it sometimes, just very rarely.

The reason I'm asking about the legality of it is because I'll have a pre-employment drug test soon, and if they see both medications in my system I want to know if it will be a problem.
You legally have prescriptions for both. It shouldn't be an issue. And like the other posters said, it's a very expensive, complex test to differentiate Xanax from klonopin. Most employers aren't going to be willing to pay for that.
