I am working on a portfolio to seek a job in a local museum. I live in a very historical town. My father had a scrapbook with lots of pictures of old things and old places in our hometown. I printed copies of these photos and I will put them together in book I am making and will present these along with my resume. I finally finished printing what must be about thirty old photos.

Now I am reminiscing about my dad. Right before he died he was so sick he was not himself. His body was swollen. He was cranky, angry, and irritable. When daddy first died this was my thoughts of him. Daddy passed away on Feb 5, 2010. It has now been 5 years since he passed away. Friday would have been daddy's birthday. He would be 92 years old if he were still living. It is interesting that I am doing this project around the time of his birthday. Daddy was a historian with meticulous attention to details and facts. He loved history. I love history. Daddy documented so much of our local history with his photos. He was also a member of many historical clubs. Now I am not remembering the sick daddy but the daddy who was a historian, the daddy who used to take me to forts and civil war reenactments.

I fear that my father would not be very proud of the person I have become. He was a strong proud man of the Great Depression/World War II era. He always worked hard and stuck things out for us. Depression has turned me into a mental mess and somewhat of a failure. Now I am wanting to leave a stressful profession to hopefully go to work doing something historical. I doubt that dad would approve of what I am doing, but then maybe he might, since he loved history.

To the memories of daddy.
