I believe this to be the case. It's far less known compared to other disorders, I believe it's less commonly diagnosed, and honestly, the nature of the "disorder" itself I think makes it less common for us to 1) Seek out help from professionals and 2) Want to come onto a forum and talk to other people about it.
Honestly, I've been pretty screwy for a very long time, and only last year, after two decades of knowing, since I was a child, that I am very, very different from others, did I decide I wanted to join an online community and talk about my internal world to anyone.
