Paxil's just a different SSRI, I wouldn't call if heavier. If you've only been on the 10mg for 6 days, I would a)ask about upping the dose, explain you're really desperate to feel better, you want to give Lexapro a fair try and it's done nothing so far and b)I'd probably give it a week or two at the higher dose if you do go up. Or at least another week at the 10 mg. I know it sucks when you're so desperate to feel better.
Yes, the two weeks for onset is both my personal and professional experience (I'm a physician). It can take up to 6 weeks to see optimal effect, but you should really see something within 2 weeks, at least in my opinion and according to a lot of studies.
If paxil worked for you in the past, you may want to discuss with your dr going back to it. If a med works once, it's much more likely to work again.
