So I've been really depressed lately and I have an appointment with my psychiatrist next week. Problem is I really don't want to get committed so I wanna be sure what to say.

I have suicidal thoughts, but I would never act on them. Thats the truth. But I've done some searching and it looks like they have to say something if you admit to having suicidal thoughts.

Maybe the laws are different between states because I remember telling my first doctor (in MN) about suicidal thoughts and nothing happened. If it does matter, I live in California now.

I know I should just tell the truth but I have a job that I can't lose so I don't want to get committed or be placed on that 72 hour hold or anything.

Thanks to anyone that can help
