Not to scare anyone but my friend gave blood, and i personally witnessed him faint and seriously injure his head during the fall.

For this reason I have never given blood even though I am sure it is a very uncommon occurrence.

I am sure if you are careful and follow the best advice it is generally safe, but I would read up about it and be cautious for several hours afterwards.
