I tried Depakote for a month at 1000 mg (split, 500 mg AM and PM). It was horrible!!!

I was nauseated the entire time I was on it and even though I could barely eat anything, I gained a ton of weight that I am now trying to lose. I felt bloated, my energy was completely sapped, and I felt mentally foggy all the time. I felt like I had the flu for a month. Within less than a week of coming off of Depakote my energy has returned, the nausea went away, I feel mentally sharp again.

Not a drug I'd be willing to try again. I know it works great for some people, but for me, it was a month of torture.

I was on Depakote years ago and gained 40 lbs in a short period of time. Right now I'm trying to get off of Seroquel even though it's been a savior, I want to see if I don't need it. I'm laying on the couch right now with flu symptoms just like the last time I came off of it. I'm doing this with pdoc instructions like last time it's just the way my body reacts. Anyways, I've been on Lamictal for probably seven years I think, using it as a mood stabilizer. Have you tried it?
