After a while I noticed I would dissociate when I'm under stress and now it seems to happen at random times without an obvious reason.
I brought this up with my psychiatrist, before I knew what it was and he didn't seem like he knew what was wrong. I'm thinking of telling him about this again and seeing if he'll consider diagnosing me, but I'm also thinking that there wouldn't be much point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these dissociative disorders can't be treated with meds right?
My psychiatrist already feels bad because he can't treat my aspergers since it can't be treated with medication, so I don't think there would be anything he could do. I'd like some help, but I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done to treat this. Should I pursue a diagnosis anyway and is there anything I can do to treat this?

should you pursue getting a diagnosis? only you can answer that. most people get a diagnosis when they want to know what is wrong with them and fix the problem. if you really want to know whether this is a dissociative problem in you and want to fix the problem then yes its worth getting the diagnosis, but if you dont care either way and have no problem with these symptoms affecting you and your life then no its not woth getting the diagnosis... see my point only you can decide whether its worth it to get the diagnosis or not.
your assumption /question of dissociative disorders cant be treated with meds...some can and some cant....if the dissociative problems are because of anxiety /depression\ health issues ... what ever thent he treatment for those triggers will treat the dissociative disorder....my depersonalization derealization disorder is being treated through meds because my triggers (MS, depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD...) are treated with meds. my antidepressants help me to not have my dissociative symptoms due to depression, my bipolar meds keep my dissociative symptoms with that in check, my MS medications are also treating my derealization depersonalization symptoms associated with the MS....
my point is there are many different mental and physical health problems that share having dissociative disorder symptoms. once you know what is triggering the dissociative symptoms it can be treated with meds.
I can tell you that my own treatment providers have been very helpful in working with me to treat my depersonalization/derealization disorder problems with meds with success.
