i have always understood dreams with houses to represent the self. the basement is the subconscious. people chasing you is perceived danger from others. the demon could be your own demons. purple is typical spiritual in nature and climbing up into a loft represents your higher self.

grandma could be a guide or role model for you, support system. i would guess that maybe you are on a journey seeking your higher self yet feel there are demons from your past that are blocking your way preventing you from reaching your goal.
