I am so sorry

I have a swimming pool and we are very careful when we host a party or have friends over. At my daughters birthday party she had friends over. I had adults stationed by the deep end so that kids who did not know how to swim would be stopped and not tempted to go in the deep in. I even had it roped off. The party was ending and people were going home. I sat down next to my cousin and her friend said is that kid drowning? I looked and the child was going down for the second time. My friend jumped in the kids mother came out of the house and jumped into the pool. She could not swim. So now we had 2 people in the deep end who could not swim. We got the kid out and the mom but that was the last time we had anyone over for a long time. I did not sleep for 3 weeks.

The up side is that the mom and her child went and took swimming lessons along with a couple of other kids that could not swim. See my husband and I like the water and we made sure that our kids knew how to swim. My daughter at age 3 was swimming the length of the pool and diving to the bottom of the deep end.

There was nothing you could have done. Like I said we were very lucky and I took extra care when having a party so that no one would get hurt and that child was about 3 yards away from and I did not hear a peep.

Go easy on yourself. Take one day at a time.
