They're aren't always entwined as full-blown disorders, but depression is very often comorbid with generalized anxiety. Now depression usually does contain an anxiety component, but not always to the extent that it needs treated separately.

That said, I'm one that has Major Depressive Disorder comorbid with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. My depression is pretty well controlled, but the anxiety still really isn't.
