I've had two bouts of diverticulitis in less than 3 years. Both cleared up okay, but I'm worried about this becoming a recurrent problem and possibly leading to some awful secondary condition.

My primary care doctor seems pretty good, but I wonder if I should ask to see a gastroenterologist.

When I read about the complications that can develop, I get pretty alarmed. I'm fine now. But I worry about the future.

Any advice? Any warnings? I use Miralax regularly, but that didn't prevent this recent attack.

I declined antibiotics this time, and I've recovered fully without them.
