No I don't shave down there; it is quite unhygienic and unhealthy in to shave there.

You're much more at risk for infection; it has long been known in medicine that shaving an area before a surgical operation increases the risk of an infection. A study conducted in 2012 suggests that pubic hair removal can increase your chance of contracting an STI because remove the hair affects the skin membrane, making it easier for bacteria to enter the body. The skin around the genitals, unlike that on your face, legs, etc., is more sensitive, and the removal of hair leaves small wounds that can spread infection to other areas of the body.

Pubic hair provides a cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury and protection from bacteria and other unwanted pathogens.

The idea that it is hygienic to remove pubic hair has no scientific basis. More than likely the obsession with pubic hair removal is fueled by irrational social standards of what the human body is supposed to look like.
