Hey all,
Do you ever cancel things for your own mental health? For example, if you have not gotten enough sleep and know that it will be a very rough day if you don't go back to sleep. Or, if you have the time, just sleeping as long as possible before whatever it is you have committed to happens.
I find myself doing this a lot lately. I just don't like putting things before my mental health when I know enough sleep would make my whole day better...especially since I have been depressed. I'm unwilling to let a lack of sleep throw me deeper into depression.
I will say though that this means I have skipped classes, failed to get a friend some photos on time, decided it was okay to stay up late the night before, and canceled other commitments the morning of (with friends or even professors/faculty). Often, I am willing to inconvenience myself. Example: today I canceled an event which will mean I will have to miss breakfast at my usual time to avoid being seen (I live on a very small college campus). Other times they have been important meetings regarding club events or my senior paper. Again, I'm unwilling to fall even deeper into depression, so these are the prices that I am paying.
Does anyone else do this?
