When I was in Jr High (now Middle School) I had long braids and, thanks to my conformist mother, dressed like everyone else (except for the quirky proto-hippy clothes I made in Home Ec), was an imaginative sedentary kid with a lot of traditional feminine interests like crafts, but I was also the only girl in the Chess Club and never thought twice about it, voted with the boys once on the next topic to study in a science class that was split 50/50 and never thought twice, and in general got on much better with nerdy boys. Now I have a buzzcut, consider formal clothes to be a suit and tie, am a loner and get particularly alienated by group anything or community anything, took on a gender-neutral name, never wore makeup and feel comfortable in my biological gender but am sometimes called Sir and am comfortable with that. I figure, anyone who cares can classify me however they want.
Okay, off the toilet and back to crocheting a ##@%&## blackbird.
