Agitation and irritability can be symptoms of mania. For me, it's what separates mania and hypomania---I get the happy crappy thing with hypo, but when I'm really manic I'm mean and say nasty things that I'd never dream of saying when I'm "normal". I've also been known to go after people with garden implements and punch refrigerators.
Medications knocked that $#!+ out of me and I don't do it anymore. I havent' had a major manic episode in a year and a half. I miss my hypo but I do NOT miss the ugly part of mania at all.
