For most people, I would recommend you just DOING it and get it over with. Most people do get scared their first time, and I cried my first time because I took the first appointment available and she didn't explain to me what was happening. But a gynecologist is just like any other doctor, they do their jobs, and their jobs is to make sure you're healthy.

I don't think a sedative would help. Feeling out of it while being touched down their may cause confusion for you on what's really happening.

I don't have any advice for you, because you have such an extreme, irrational fear, but I can tell you it's something you HAVE to do. You HAVE to see a gynecologist. Not out of the fear of cancer (which is NOT as common as you think) but because it's important that you stay healthy.
