That book is the only thing that makes sense to me. Do a google search (or better yet, a youtube search) on Intuitive Eating.

The idea is to accept your body, learn to stop putting it down and learn to have a healthy relationship with food.

There is no such thing as "bad foods" but it teaches you to be mindful of whether or not you are hungry, and to learn to listen to your body's hunger cues to know when to start or stop eating.

The idea being, that you learn to find alternate coping mechanisms for when you eat emotionally, whether it be boredom, depression anxiety, whatever.

Eventually the crappy food, not being forbidden starts to lose its appeal, and your body will reach its own intended weight.

Check if your local library has it. Or maybe ebay has it cheap. it's very interesting.
