"Just stopping" is nigh impossible. If it were that easy you'd have done it already. Are there other things that can help you besides SI? I've recently started using a (red) marker on my skin instead of SIing when the urges get bad. It helps some - not as well as SI, but it's something. Perhaps something like that can help you too?
Also if you were to open a thread in the Psychotherapy forum (under "Treatments and self-care strategies", a few lines beneath this forum) you could maybe get some support and advice on telling your T, or receive some responses on how other people's T's reacted and things like that.
