Here's a little more info on the animation, the story behind the song, etc:

American animator Benny Zelkowicz’s sand animation project depicts the German folklore story of the King of the Fairies (Der Erlkonig), which Schubert set to music many years ago....

The story of The Erlking involves four characters: a narrator, father, son and the Erlking, so is very challenging for a single vocalist to perform. The little boy is scared as his father carries him home on horseback at night…he hears rustling in the leaves and sees wisps of fog and thinks he’s being attacked by a supernatural being (see image top right).

Schubert drew inspiration from the great themes of nature and poems by Goethe.
