Sleep paralysis can seem scary when it first happens but once you understand it, you can train yourself to be patient for it to stop. I started having Lucid dreams and these were scary at first because they felt so real and I was thinking logically as though I was awake. Now I like having them. Here's an excellent website that covers sleep paralysis, sleep hallucinations and many other sleep related issues.
