The way i think of it, or hope it to be, is that my "soul" would carry on. And hopefully, my soul contains the thought processes that i use today, which i think would give me an upper hand in almost any circumstance i reincarnate into, relative to others in my same species. If i were to be a butterfly, I would hope my shrewd nature would carry on and allow me to rise to a position of power within the species. Even though i said i will not have the same genes, when people say "you" reincarnate into something, i tend to assume that the "you" aspect is the soul, and i also assume the soul contains the most dominant aspects of the personality, which for me, i like to think is my rational thought process. (Ironic how this is all seemingly irrational )
It is also the feeling of being immortal which i like to fantasize about

I'm saying if you're so content with who you are, why would you be day dreaming about being a butterfly?
I practice living in the now, and don't get caught up worrying about stuff literally out of my lifetime and impossible to prove
