I understand your frustration. Sometimes it really takes forcing yourself to take a chance to see that everything is alright. The biggest thing I have noticed about people with anxiety if that worst case scenario is the major focus. "What if they don't like me" "What if I'm not funny" What if what if what if….you get the jist. I do it do when I get anxious. I always focus on negative outcome rather than the positive ones. When you have negative thought processes keeping you from making the jump to something you want, try counteracting with a positive thought. "Yeah what if they dont like me? Well? What if they end up being your best friend?"

You also said you worry about what people will think of you based on what you say. You don't have to worry about what anyone thinks except yourself. You have to know that you are a good person. You have to like yourself because you are the one living your life. You can be who you want to be but you first have to find a way to let go of the worst case thinking. Bring it up with your counselor and maybe work on some practices to nullify that thinking.
