A med like an SSRI will probably get rid of a lot of those Effexor withdrawal symptoms. I don't know if you can take an SSRI. Sometimes they will give you Prozac for a month and then stop it.

Another option is to go back on the last dose of Effexor that you were taking and then drop it by 10% every month or so. (That can become difficult to get the correct dose when they get really tiny.)

I have taken Effexor twice and I did a Cymbalta taper last year from 120 mg/day to 60 mg/day. It took 5 months and I still had lots of anxiety.

It's a shame that the pdoc who sees lots of pregnant patients isn't taking new ones. Maybe there's a waiting list? Maybe they would recommend someone else to you?

There is a lot of info online about people tapering off Effexor and how they did it if you want to look into it.

You can also probably switch to Cymbalta or Pristiq or Fetzima (all SNRIs) at a low dose to get completely away from the Effexor if you want to do that. I think they are easier to taper because they don't act so strongly on serotonin receptors.

When I was taking Effexor, I switched straight from Effexor to Cymbalta and couldn't really even feel any side effects.
Thanks for this!
