Hello ryanLR15, it's really hard to say without knowing this person. It could be that they trust you enough to tell you how they really feel about the other person. For example, say I hated my boss and I told you as a friend that I hated them, there would be no way that I could say that to the boss as I would lose my job. It might be that this person you are talking about has to keep face within a group and can't say how they really feel in front of others. I'm guessing here, I suggest you ask that person and see what they have to say about it.
