I don't have an answer for that, but you need a secondary whisperer, to counteract the first disembodied whisper. Like if you hear whispered to you, "you're horrible, you'll never do anything that has merit," etc. you need a co-whisper to come out of left field to whisper to you, "Stfu! You don't even have a body, what do you know about life!"
And if you're the one whispering, feel free to come over and get smacked.
