I am in a mild depression and I experience the boredom problem too. I didn't have this problem before I became depressed. I don't have a job right now and I only volunteer 10-1/2 hours a week, so I have a lot of free time.
I do spend way too much time on the computer, although part of that is job searching. I took up jogging, I read a little bit, I go to AA meetings, take horse riding lessons but that's only once every two weeks.
As soon as I can run a 5k I'll be doing races on the weekends. As soon as my horse riding skills improve, I'll be allowed to do trail riding on the weekends too. As soon as summer comes, hopefully I can crew for sailboat races or cruises. I signed up for it at least so we'll see. In the meantime, I'm open to suggestions too!
