The very sad truth is that people are not totally altruistic.

He is doing what he wants because he wants to.

Don't be pre-preemptively unhappy because you assume he will, at some point, break your heart. If we all felt that way we would be in a very sorry state.
Everyone deserves happiness, regardless of how long it lasts.
