I'm taking Cymbalta right now, as an anti-depressant. So, I'd say that it helps with emotional problems.
Since you already know the basics of it being an SSNRI, I'll just tell you that it's been reported to have good effects for depression and even for a buddy with treatment resistant depression. I've only been on it five weeks, and the AD effects haven't shown up yet for me, but they still might. I'm still plugging away at it.
So far, it's been a pretty smooth ride -- some diarrhea for about a week, a little nausea, I do notice that I'm not as obsessive about food (although I will say I'm not eating as much), and some sexual side effects. No insomnia, nothing that's such a deal killer that I'm ready to go off of it. If it doesn't do anything for the depression, though, by the next appointment, then I'll probably be switched.
