I've always worked but lately I've considered filing for disability but it scares me. I just had an MRI done and my doctor said I have a bulging disk and osteoarthritis in my neck. My commute is 1.5 hrs each way on the train plus I have to walk to and from the train station and my office and the commuter parking lot, which is killing my legs. I have terrible pain in my legs, arms, hands, shoulders, neck, hips and back. They seem to get worse as I get older. I take Gabapentin, Lorzone, Effexor, Cymbalta, Levrothyroxin, and I'm also on HRT because I'm going through menopause. I can't handle all this anymore. I can't sit for long periods, which makes traveling hard. If anyone has experience with the disability process I would appreciate any advice. I've tried many things to alleviate the pain, such as exercise, meditation, rest, warm showers and yoga, but I'm unable to exercise or do yoga like I used to because it's too painful. I feel like giving up. I don't have a good quality of life in constant pain with depressive episodes and my marital problems on top of it. Sorry for long post. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I can relate! I have all the same medical issues. I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain from arthritis, have had neck and back surgeries. Awaiting rotator/shoulder surgery. I can't do anything I use to do. I take tramadol for my pain. It works pretty well for me. I'm 56 and I haven't worked in about 6 years. I too keep contemplating applying for disability. My anxiety and depression seems to keep me from going through the process. My husband doesn't always understand and gets irritated but it's not a "problem". I would suggest a hobby that you enjoy that helps take your mind off things. I wish I had a specific answer for you, but just wanted you to know I try to focus on my hope and faith.
