I know this isn't huge, but would y'all think about him tomorrow? For those of you that don't know, I've cared for my four year old nephew since just before his second b'day full time, part time from birth.
I took him to the doctor after a "callous" on his toe fell off, leaving this weird "hole".
They said it was a planter's wart and that it was odd for a child his age to have gotten that virus. It's just the one too. I told him how he'd always had this little slit in his toe there...from birth that I can remember...just like dry skin that's split in the crease of a finger that just won't heal? Yeah, like that. He said that made sense, then, as to why he may have gotten the virus in his toe.
Anyhow, it's on a pressure point. What happens with planter's warts on a pressure point is that it can't grow outside, so it grows inside. Because of that, I wasn't aware that something was up until now, and though it's not huge, it's not small and starting to cause him some tenderness due to it being on a pressure point.
I've been through something else with this. He has state medicaid and the referral that the clinic gave doesn't take it! I looked at their physicians (dermatologists) and they sounded like a shop at the local mall.
I called children's hospital and they're seeing him tomorrow but I had to move heaven and earth almost for that referral and approval. I had to explain that he's just four, it's not small and it should be removed by pediatric specialists.
Anyhow, would y'all keep in your thoughts that it was approved for them to work on him and that it goes well? It's a large area to cut or burn out of a little toe in a place that's hard to keep clean and heal. I doubt they'll do anything tomorrow but look at it and decide what needs to be done. He's seeing the general surgeons there, and they said they'd call in the dermatologist if they felt it necessary because he's not there often and it takes a while to get in.
Thanks!
