He has to have surgery.

It's scheduled for July 5th at 9:45 a.m. We have to be there at 7:45 a.m. and they said they'll give him his own room with a nintendo, t.v. and toys. Then they'll give him some "happy juice" to make him relaxed and silly and he'll pick out the flavor for the anesthesia. He's never even had an antibiotic before. His having anesthesia makes me very nervous, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

The dr. said it's large in there and the best chance for healing is to make an incision. Trying to burn it out or whatever would leave way too big a hole that wouldn't heal properly. He's worried about the healing due to where it's at and said stitches might not even stay in it but it's the best route to go. Of course the worry too is leaving it or it not healing probably could affect the way he walks, etc.

He said I made the best call taking him to Children's because a dermatologist or adult care place would've hurt him and probably left a bad area there. He said, "Yeah, they say kids are tough and can handle it...Why should they be forced to just because they have small voices???" MY KIND OF DOCTOR!!!! I'm just so glad I took him there and he said I absolutely did the right thing for him and his healing.

You can tell he loves children. He walked into the office and made buddies with him straight away. David knew he was liked immediately and asked questions, etc. The doctor then let him hold his real stethascope (sp?) so he could talk to mom. Just a class act...truly.

So, he's having a small little surgery and an amazing doctor to perform it and his progress.

Thank you everyone!

KD
