I'm sorry that happened. I was fired twice in 10 months over bipolar and neither time was my work really impaired at all. (The 2nd time was 1st because they wanted to hire a new grad for a lot less $$ than I was making with experience, but the bipolar was what they hated about me.) The first time I tried to get a lawyer and either was discouraged by the fees or they just said they couldn't help (not a lot of ADA lawyers in the middle of nowhere). They said it would be very hard to prove. I started to fight over it with worker's comp (and I would have lost I'm sure) but then I got hired for a new job and dropped it because one week of worker's comp benefits wasn't worth the time or energy.

I hope that it goes well for you. It is so frustrating to know that bipolar is behind something like this even when you did nothing wrong. With the first job that fired me I knew that I had things I wasn't perfect with and I offered to resign. They said Oh, no, not necessary, you're a valuable member of the team, etc and then proceeded to do a series of things that ended with being fired a few weeks later. I should have walked out but stupidly trusted them. I learned. I also learned get all contract negotiations in writing. Ugh. I hate even thinking of that time so I feel so bad for you to have to go through it.
