I will tell you the honest truth: being fired the 2nd time was the best thing that ever happened to me professionally. I was only able to work for 2 more years after that but they were the best years I had because I had one (9 week contract at a time job) that led to my finding what I was really good at and even getting to develop my own program in that agency. If I hadn't been fired I would never have wound up in the contract job that led to the final job and I would have missed working somewhere that never took advantage of me, that treated me fairly and kindly and that even paid me for disability 3 months longer than my FMLA leave just so they could keep me as an employee. I know it just hurts and you probably feel completely indignant right now but it may open a door you never considered before. Not that you'll wind up on disability but since I did I can say that I am so glad that my last 2 years were happy memories with happy customers.
I hope good things come out of this for you, whichever path you decide to take.
