Hello and welcome to PC. Nice to meet you. I was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago and I am an older adult. My symptoms of low motivation, starting things and not finishing them, forgetting things and problems with certain subjects started in my childhood. I had trouble in math and science and I was a slow reader. I was a day dreamer in class and I also had some compliance issues in my childhood. I was a girl so my issues didn't seem to stick out like the ADHD boys. I have a strong impulsive hyperactive sub type component. I also have the inattention and my brain will kind of shut down.

Some of what you describe could resemble ADD, like the low motivation, brain fog, poor working memory, poor social skills, slow at tasks, inability to pay attention. However, so many other conditions are similar in their characteristics. You say that you get very creative and you feel like a different person and you have a higher energy level but that could more closely follow other disorders. If you feel "super me" then that could be attributed to a mood disorder like bipolar. I am no doctor but some of what you describe could be ADD or your symptoms could also fit depression. The high energy could be mania. This is why you need to be evaluated as both ADD and other conditions such as depression or bipolar can be present together. I would see a psychiatrist for an evaluation. ADD or ADHD starts in childhood. If you have school records or comments from teachers and family, it would help to take them with you to a professional to help rule in or rule out ADD. There are tests available as well. I wish you the best in getting this sorted out.
