My grandma was a kleptomaniac.. she's dead now, but she would take so much.. like even at restaurants she'd load up her bag (which was always huge) with all the salt shakers, ketchup bottles, etc. She got caught a lot, too, and when my dad was a child he said it was very embarrassing.

I have nothing to offer help wise, really, but obviously you aren't alone. She never got treatment for it, but i'm sure you could tell a therapist about it and they might have ways to cope.
