Does your T specialize in Complex PTSD? If not that may be a person that could help you better.

Rule of thumb: Is a person ready - yes if you answer yes or maybe:

1) Am I willing to face myself courageously?

2) Am I willing to change my life and routines if that is what it takes to get better?

3) Am I willing to accept the help of another person professionally trained in helping people out of complex ptsd?

Talk to your therapist about the goals of therapy and what you have or have not accomplished and any roadblocks you face.

Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems though still there are more manageable. There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. Feel free to participate actively at Psych Central.

Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com
