I'm sure for some people and some disorders holistic can work....I feel personally though that they work only on minor ailments and interestingly enough biased on my research most herbs that would work also come with side effects. Our body's evolved for survival so many herbs we take are not processed well or eliminated too fast. After all if you eat 9/10 plants they can make you sick or at least do you no benefits other then a sour stomach (no source and not an actual factual number ) . Our body's adapted to this with enzymes and other functions to prevent them from doing damage. A lot of psych meds have their root in nature. Nature just didn't provide the best option so we created far more effective meds. Now this isn't meant to discourage you as I'm sure some things can work my opinion is just take it with a grain of salt. This being said I have had some minor success in relaxation with essential oils. Not much for mood stabilization but they seem to have a calming effect or a slight energizing effect. Just my 2 cents. I'm not doctor after all.
