I have some more thoughts. I more clearly see that the kid is a entrepreneur and reminds me of my friend in real life who is an entrepreneur. The kid and his device seem to show a way out of the stuck destruction and shame--they show up in the dream just at the moment I am most stuck and afterward everything seems to be going better. In real life, I am living off a disability income but I desperately hope to become well again and become productive, or "enterprising." The same day I had that dream I earned some money doing math tutoring.

EDIT: I was meditating just now and my eyes felt very tight, like they were trying to bore a hole into something. I associate this with the laser of the device, a "laser-like focus." I associate this with the kind of fixated attention that's part of having OCD for me.
