I don't know your story but staying active helps. A good long walk in the sunshine always helps me. Exercise (even just moderate) helps. Also when you have negative thoughts, work on replacing them with positive thoughts. I find that if I "tell" myself that I am a good person I actually can believe it.
Being down and depressed is hard (believe me, I know). But if you take small positive steps, you can feel better.
