ck2d, we are all struggling with low self esteem. We were brought up by parents unable to nurture us to be caring, compassionate, self accepting people. It is not your fault you are the way you are.
I don't think there is a simple one shot answer, but as one who has struggled for a long time and found some relief, there is a way out.
For me having a daily routine gives me a simple reinforcing plan that kicks in when I do my routine of exercise and yoga, mindfulness and breathing awareness.
