I think one reason you're not finding a lot of guys that have experience with it is because with today's medical practices it takes a bit of luck just to catch it. I know I only recently got my doctor to even do a PSA screening. If I had an inflamed prostate, I would probably not even know until something bad happened.
Second, I think it's too early to think the worst. The good thing is that it's been detected and now you can do something about it. As GI Joe used to say, "Knowing is half the battle." Not knowing that something is wrong is the scary part. Hang in there, you'll get through it. Right now the only thing is that you have inflammation of the prostate, and you'll get the treatment you need soon.
Finally, you're not useless in the sex department and you're on your way to getting treatment. If your girlfriend dumps you because of a possibility in the future, she definitely isn't the right girl for you. If you guys are close you should let her know. If you're just getting started, I wouldn't worry about telling her until you have more definitive information.
